Lara Alexander, BJourn

With a Bachelors degree in Journalism (and BA Philosophy) from Rhodes University, Lara launched a career in media, communications and publishing, working as a digital editor for international companies Media24 and New Media Publishing. Over a decade later, keen to get back to her field of interest, Lara embarked on an MA in Cultural Astronomy at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, with an idea to completing once a suitable thesis topic had been found. During this time Lara joined the website team at the Sophia Centre at the university. Volunteering on the Unesco Portal to the Heritage of Astronomy team, led by Professor Clive Ruggles, came next. Contributions included articles, research and fielding public enquiries for potential inclusions to the universally significant heritage repository in the quest to raise awareness of the importance of identifying, protecting and preserving astronomical heritage worldwide. Lara is also well-versed in practical applications of ancient solar religions. Passionate about the Codices project, Lara is dedicated in her contributions towards web design, social media, organisational legalities, media office activities and general project operations.
